University self-evaluation as a part of international accreditation process

Abstract

International accreditation is an essential procedure in assuring high quality medical education globally. The paper presents the experience of the Grodno State Medical University in international accreditation participation. The role of international accreditation of higher medical educational institutions in the provision of global health is emphasized. Prerequisites and important aspects of accreditation procedure are specified. Particular focus is given to the historical development of the University as an important factor in the University’s present day reputation as a higher medical institution providing high-quality medical education.
