ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTIONING OF SPECIAL EDUCATION ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE COMPLEX OF SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOOLS IN ŁOMZA
Abstract
First schools for disabled and socially maladjusted students in Poland emerged in the 19th century.
Since the creation of first special institutions, education of students with disabilities has changed considerably.
The aim of the article is to present organization and functioning of special schools as well as to overcome the
stereotype of comparing special schools to ‘storage points’. The experience the Complex of Special Education
Schools in Łomza was adopted for the purpose of analysing the subject.
